Honey Garlic Chicken Kebab

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 21 June 2007 in Food & Cuisine.

Last week we went to East Coast food centre for dinner and ordered satay.Caleb was so smitten with the chicken satay he refused to eat anything else except the satay.

So decided to try making my own 'satay' and hopefully provide an alternative to Caleb's fishball-only diet..

Marinade:
Honey
Garlic
Light Soya sauce

Ingredients
Chicken fillet
Butter
Satay stick(bamboo skewer)
Red Capsicum
Green Capsicum
Big red onion

1. Marinate chicken fillet with garlic, honey and light soya sauce for at least 30 minutes
2. Cut onion, red and green capsicum into small pieces
3. Skew the onion, red, green capsicum and chicken
4. Spread butter on the baking tray
5. Lay the kebarb on the tray and bake for 20 minutes,160 deg c.

It turned out to be a hit with Caleb and hub!Caleb kept asking for more...hurray.:)

yummy! yummy! mommy tyan!
wah Caleb, Ian and Lawrence are so fortunate to have you!
as for yesterday's shot - i think there a bit of resemblance lah especially the smile! a bit expensive but i think it's money well spend to commemorate the 3 years! congrats!
hey thanks for the dedication that's coming up on the 23rd...i'll be looking out for it!
you press on mommy tyan - i salute you for having the courage to leave your job and give yourself to your two sons...years when you look back you'll be glad you gave that to them! i also salute Lawrence giving you the support and for taking on the responsibility to be sole bread-provider!
all these are pleasing in His sight!
His blessings be upon you, Lawrence, Caleb and little Ian, Ian! :)

@kairospix: thank you so much for your kind encouragement!Yes,i think i am very fortunate to have lawrence's support, esp when nobody else seems to agree with what we are doing.I remember my boss telling me that i m wasting my career staying at home!In fact Law seems to be more for me staying at home than i myself am!

People say,'I was brought up/i sent my kids to nanny/maid/fill-in-yourself and i turned out fine!Money is more important..blah'

Sometimes i have thoughts like, what if next time Caleb's/Ian's friends have certain expensive toys like PS3 and we cant afford it?Would our children blame us for not being able to lavish on their material needs?

I just hope when we look back,we can have a clear conscience that we gave all that we could to our children, our time, our love...and that pay check!

Does Caleb take the veg as well?
Robyn loves it when we give her homemade noodles or french toast (is that what it's called? when the bread is soaked with egg and sugar and then fried?).

Hi Tyan...early next year...cool, we can buy advanced booking w/ SQ from San Francisco, CA...prices are usually between US$900 to US$1200 depending on when booking is done. But seriously, Tyan, you're not going to show this to your friend, are you? Thanks for the thought nonetheless! I do appreciate it! B-)

@{H} creatives: ha,i thought u meant business? So you were joking?Well,if you are keen then i can let her know there is this option, then leave it to her to decide!:)haha..wow,the airfare is steep though:p

{H} creatives from Santa Clara, United States

Ok...guess u can let her see the pics and see if I "wow" her enough to the point that she wants to pay for the airfare to fly me out there. It would be nice to see Singapore again (will have to take a couple of weeks from work, though, and my wife and daughter would most likely come along to see "opa" and "oma" in Southeast Asia)...lol ....B-)
