NCHS 4H'04Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 22 June 2007 in People & Portrait. Meet my ex-students!(top boys from left:Zhijian,Jinhao and Zeng Siong;girls from left:Wenying,Zanjun and Jiaxin) Was pleasantly surprised when Jinhao told me some of them were going to visit me,somewhat out of the blue.I havent met most of them since they graduated from high school 3 years ago.Ah,time really flies, they are already 19 this year! Nevertheless it was a pleasant surprise to see all of them doing so well, studying, serving the army...And i was also surprised they said they 'kept track' of me from reading my blog, haha. And they gave me a recipe book so that i can brag about more dishes in my blog next time:p[Very thoughtful of you guys!:)] I think one of greatest satisfaction derived from teaching is that your students remember you even long after parting ways.I don't remember having such good rapport with my own teachers!LOL. 4H'04 was the first graduating class i taught in my teaching career and honestly this class was one of the classes i really enjoyed teaching. They are cooperative during lesson time but they are also bubbly and responsive.Feels a bit strange to see them mature and yes, even grow taller!:)Its like watching your kids grow,so emotional...:) Well, now that i am staying at home and the future uncertain, like whether i will return to teaching and stuff,it is nice to have visitors like that! And of course they took turns to help me babysit Ian!Thanks guys for visiting!See you again!:) ps:thanks Jinhao for organizing!thanks the rest of you for coming! All the best!

Mom or Dad (or both), 2. Teachers. To you (teacher on hiaitus) and all of you teachers out there (retired or active)...I know it's the most unappreciated job in the world, but know that you are shaping the future of nations! Here's a BIIIIG THAAAANK YOOOOU! p.s. do you still think of them as 16-year-olds? I do with my "kids" that I taught. 23 Jun 2007 7:30am @{H} creatives: heh,do you know the tagline for our country's ministry of education's publicity stints to get more teachers?--Mould the future of the Nation.Teach. kairospix from Singapore, Singaporethat's the part of teaching that many went into teaching for in the first place - to somehow impact some lives in the process 23 Jun 2007 11:12am @kairospix: Thanks a lot for the affirmation! My sister once told me nobody believed the Wright brothers when they said they wanted to make something that could fly.I think i just got to pray for strength to pursue parenthood in this way.but hey, strangely many of my classmates from NIE had quit the moment their bond ended. Many left in bitterness.
