Uncle Ringo Funfair-Ferris WheelPosted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 23 June 2007 in People & Portrait. Uncle Ringo is a mobile funfair that has been moving around some parts of Singapore Heartland. This month,it is stationed at Bishan, near where my parents stay.So every week when we pass by Uncle Ringo,Caleb looks longingly at the brightly coloured Euro Wheel and kept saying,'Turn, turn'.Now he has learnt that the big thing that turns is called the ferris wheel and he pronounces it as 'feel'(probably a combi of ferris and wheel, haha) After showing him pictures of the FW by a p-blogger friend,Kairospix,(click here and here to see his very pro FW shots)he got more excited,so we decided to bring him to Uncle Ringo before the school hols end. Hub and I were actually quite excited to take a ride on the ferris wheel, you wont believe it but i havent sat on one in whole N years of my life! But Caleb kept shaking his head the moment he got close...ah,too bad there wasnt any babysitting services at Uncle Ringo's!

{H} creatives from Santa Clara, United StatesHi Tyan...don't know about you, but I rode a ferris wheel a several weeks ago and I haven't sat on one for years (it was at the Santa Cruz boardwalk where I shot this guy). And you know, I got kind of scared. Signs of aging, I guess (and here's coming from a guy who loves roller coaster rides). Love your last photo! I used to teach (English, believe it or not) to supplement spending while going through school. I kind of like it. Do you miss teaching? 23 Jun 2007 7:26am @{H} creatives: haha you r v funny.I actually have a bit of fear of heights but i wanted to 'confront' my fears and de-stress a bit..lol I used to teach too while going through school to finance my own spending.Teaching in Singapore can be very stressful. It meant long hours, work after working hours and lots of 'sandwich between' pressure from the 'top' and the parents of the kids, lots of extra work besides teaching. I miss the interaction with the kids.I used to do counselling with the problem kids in school. There were times when students called in the middle of the night telling me about their problems or wanting to leave their homes and asked me to 'house' them!...Had to 'make friends' with the police and the professional social workers. I enjoyed being there for them. After i had caleb i continued teaching and one of those times when i was handling a very tough case,it just dawned upon me why i was spending so much time with other people's kids but left my own children which is my divine responsibility to be raised by other people? That really hit me hard. I also noticed many wayward kids i knew had sth in common, they were neglected by parents. So here i m now stayin at home, teaching will have to take a backseat for now. kairospix from Singapore, SingaporeHello! 23 Jun 2007 10:57am @kairospix: nay we didnt. We kept asking him whether he wanted to go up.He nodded,shook,nodded,shook...finally kept shakin his head.the 360 degree thingy is very scary!i wont want to spill my guts trying that. Thanks for your kind words and comments about the pic..yeah,Caleb was just contented staring at the ferris wheel. We are still asking him now and then to see if he changes his mind abt the ride.ha. kairospix from Singapore, Singaporep/s left some some thoughts at yesterday's post for ya too :) 23 Jun 2007 11:14am @chacha: thanks!:) Nancy from SingaporeRobyn hasn't really seen one yet...she's more interested in the numbers and alphabets around her. 23 Jun 2007 2:30pm @Nancy: haha thats wat we were worried about.Anyway, caleb kept shaking his head,so we had no chance to go on the ride!:) Xinyi from Singaporeoh no!! caleb is scare of the ferris wheel?? such a pity.. went there las week but the rides are so expensive!! 26 Jun 2007 1:12am @Xinyi: so did u take the rides?so romantic yeah?:) |
