The Dancing Queens-My sister and IPosted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 11 July 2007 in People & Portrait. Since i was talking about siblings on my post yesterday,i thought it is high time i introduce one of my family members to everyone,my sister and a very good friend. This picture is taken when we were very young,my sister behind and me in front. We both love dancing and were dancing for our schools at some point of our lives but my sister is still dancing now,as a hobby though. I was musing yesterday if siblings become good friends because of affinity or human effort.I am not sure ,maybe a bit of both? I was fostered out until i was 7.I remember even when i came home,i felt quite alienated from my older bro and sis.I was like an outsider(at least that was how i felt). My poor sister was always the victim in any bully incident in the family. She was always the more quiet and 'docile' one at home.I remember my bro sneezing into her favourite pillow and all that mucus! But she continued with that pillow anyhow.I also remembered i was quite a bully.I would coerce her into playing with me when she actually wanted to sleep. My sis is the most adventurous and i say independent of us 3.She had gone to HK and Shanghai on her own to study and work.I cant remember when we became good friends, but i think it was in my late teens or early 20s,when my childish ways have worn off and we were ready to sit down and talk and she was finally back from overseas to stay. Not very long cos i got married soon after but she remains a very dear friend till this day.We tried to share the load of taking care and looking out for our ageing parents, she does more of it of course, and we talk about our friends and stuff. She also was very encouraging when i was feeling low staying at home or when i was pregnant, dropping by to visit though we stay quite far apart. I was quite disappointed we did not have a daughter and my sis joked i better be good to her because when we are old,she will be the one going shopping and drinking high tea with me. That's a very good idea.:) Sister, this post is for you! Thanks!

I always compare my relationship with my bro and sis to that of Calvin's and i'm count myself lucky that we have such good relationship. I do think it's all thanks to my parents, esp my mom. I hope that Robyn and Marcus will also have such a strong bond between them. 11 Jul 2007 8:19am @Nancy: what did your mom do babe,to help you all get along so well?I always think you and your siblings are very close and i always envied the way your bro doted on you...!So calvin doesnt get along well with his siblings too?Hopefully Rob and Mar will be close too!:) Xinyi from Singaporehahaha.. u can always get your sons' wives to go shopping and have tea wif u mah.. 11 Jul 2007 10:01am @Xinyi: their wives might find me too old and boring by then!Even then, they might not want to go with me,of all people..you know this thing about mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law...they don seem to get along...at least not for long!haha Nancy from SingaporeMaybe it's becos my mom was a SAHM and also perhaps also my bro's character is the kind who is always looking out for his siblings. Yah, Calvin doesn't exactly talk to his sisters (not that I care anyway :p)...his family dynamics seem difficult to understand! 11 Jul 2007 2:08pm @Nancy: good for u babe!:) bronzebilly u.k. from cardiff, United Kingdomcute shot--excellent, poignant narrative--billy 11 Jul 2007 10:51pm |
