Thought i wont do this little fellow any justice if i dont take any pictures of him at the beach. Of course Caleb would be more interesting and more opportunities for shots but here you are.
When the 3 of us go out,i carry Ian in my sarong sling and push Caleb in a stroller.I noticed for quite a number of times when we were out, other children are carried in sarong only by maids. The parents walk in front and the maid walk behind with the kid in the sarong.
So that day when we went to the beach, the cab driver said something like that to me:
Driver:What's your son's name? Me: (I thought:Which one?)But anyhow i said,'Caleb and Ian' Driver:You carry your baby in the sarong, nobody do that now Me:Is it? Driver:Ya,only in the sixties and seventies,it was very popular. Me:Um-hmm Driver:Now i think only maids use it to carry their employers' kids Me:.........
(Do i look like a maid to you??!!!I know sometimes i tie up my hair without combing, and i dont put on make up often...Cut me some slack! $%^&**@#)
But having said that,i do enjoy carrying Ian in my sarong, caleb asked for it even now that he is 2.I think it promotes bonding and was very useful when i was breastfeeding the kids. And Ian has no complaints 'koala-ing' to me.The sarong can carry up to 18 kg weight. Anyway tandem/double seater prams are so expensive i think i will just stick to what i have been doing. It does give me backache sometimes though.
Anyway, who says only maids use the sarongs?
Aiya, it's just the impression. I think it's easier to carry bb in sarongs. I now need to find mine that somehow disappeared after packing some clothes k outgrown months back...arghhh..things are everywhere..okiez, will sms/call u tonite. Forgot my hp when I left hm today. Heehee, my hb will be ard if u dun mind. Having some intent to go to vivo city but not confirmed. Where convenient for u?

@Saed: thanks Saed!:)
Hey babe,
The last thing to do is to listen to what a cab driver has to say! They are usually a bunch of disgruntled old-fashioned, narrow-minded old men who incessantly complained about their job, the government and standard of living. Nothing good ever comes from their mouths! Look at their behaviour on the road, they hardly observe basic road ettiquette and are quick to use their horns, flashlight and middle-finger. ARGHHHHH!!!! I hate cab drivers!!!!!! Oops.... sorry to load u with these stuff!
Dun listen to that old man okie. Just do what's convenient for u ya :)

@Cookie: haha, you are so funny.I remember its always an adventure sitting in your vehicle.LOL. But i understand what u mean. I met some nice drivers too,but more frequently not. Like once i remember i struggled with the 2 little guys and a stroller and a big bag,and the driver doesnt even bother to come out to help. His door was automatic and he didnt even bother to open it for me.$%#%*(#*% Tell me about it.
Mommy of fortunate Caleb & Ian,
Do u know how I feel when I see maids/grandparents with children who are without their mummies? I pity them!! My next thought will be "where's their mother when they most needed her?" Women these days fall into 3 categories: (a) Selfish type - women who're more concerned about herself, thus relegate the childminding job to others (b) Supermoms - women who very much wanna look after their own but gotta work to support family (c) SAHMs - women who very much wanna look after their own and can afford to do so by cutting corners. Majority of women with kids of our time fall into (a) & (b) categories. Remember we used to gripe about being type (b).... hehe!

@Cookie: haha babe,yes...you are a supermom babe, hang on there. You know on occasions i go to places like Borders and i get the impression that the sahm i meet are very well to do,as in their hub earn big bucks and they stay home comfortably. I have begun giving tuition to supplement the income and for the first time in many years,i begin to appreciate what HARD EARNED $$ means. Slog like mad at home during the week and give tuition at weekends to make ends meet.I appreciate the extra money so i can pay for my own transport and give the kids occasional treats.I also appreciate the brain activity involved in tuition so my brain don go mush after staying at home long.More importantly it is so that some people will stop thinking and hinting that i am sponging on my husband and causing him extra burden.I dont know why they think that way.Why do they measure everything in dollars and cents? My hub brings home the bacon, and i stay at home to take good care of the kids and make sure the home is nice and comfy when hub comes back and that there is a nice meal on the table.Am i lazing around, doing nth??No,i am working harder than before but somehow i get more criticisms for wanting to be a good mother.Oh well. What the heck.
blimey !! tyan--this great image sure caused some discussion--anyway you do what you think is right for you and yours--that's me done--billy

@bronzebilly u.k.: yep billy, that is just what i need to do-do what i think is right for me and mine-heck what others say-thanks dude!
Hey! We have exactly the same sarong! But I'm hopeless with it...bought a pouch in the end..but don't really use it. Marcus is too heavy (actually, he's ony 10.9kg and I think he's going to lose more cos he's ill again!...).
26 Jul 2007 9:40pm
@Nancy: oh poor kid!what happened to him this time?you know i feed Caleb this 'Kiddy pharmaton' that can be bought from pharmacies and he seem to have better resistance.Maybe can try!I also have a purple one, this sarong's cloth material is too tough for me.
Marcus got bronchitis...got the germs from the maid. Sigh...would Marcus be too young to take this multi-vitamin (I suppose kiddy pharmaton is multi-vit)? Robyn is taking appleton, she refused to take cod liver oil...
27 Jul 2007 12:57am
@Nancy: yup its multi vit,yes he can take it already. Its for kids from 1 year onwards.7.5ml everyday, preferably before breakfast or lunch.Caleb used to fall sick very often, like once or even twice a month, after i gave him that,he seemed to be healthy for many weeks before the recent flu saga. Not sure if there were other variables though..it was recommended by lawrence's colleague who also said his kid did not fall sick so often after taking it.poor marcus.maid got cough or sth?i rem caleb got his but did not even look like he was sick.Cough here and there and i was so shocked to hear he had bronchitis when the doc told me.Remember that fateful day i told u i was on childcare leave and school actually called me to go back...lol.
Tyan, cute pic of Ian here! He's just so adorable....makes one wants to pinch his cheeks...LOL. On your commentary about sarong, believe it or not it is making into some circles and becoming somewhat popular here in the U.S. In fact, I saw this couple at Santana Row [the high-end boutique shops in the South Bay] the other day and the blue-eyed, blond-haired mum was wearing one to carry her baby. So who says only maids wear 'em...LOL. B-) Sorry about that insensitive cabbie story...what ignorance, eh? Anyways...send regards to Law and the boyz, as always. Cheers!
p.s. what is the translation of "$%^&**@#"?....LOL...j/k B-)
27 Jul 2007 1:22am
@{H} creatives: haha then i should have told that cabbie even the more 'superior' people are wearing it.Time for him to move on..haha..but not so upset about him la,just talking about it,i didnt really take it to heart.
what's j/k?
Haha... i know who are the "some people" you've mentioned. Dun bother about what they think of u k. U r doing a great job, n most importantly your hubby appreciates u for that too! So that's most important :)
29 Jul 2007 2:00am
@cookie: thanks a lot babe...haha,i think law very stressed,i m depending on him for all the encouragement..
by the way...j/k is shorthand for "just kidding" B-)
