Home made Apple Crumble

Hub likes to eat Apple Crumble.

Saw a recipe from a parenting magazine for Apple Crumble and thought i should try it one of these days.

It turns out to be quite a hassle,at least to me,lol. Did this late at night when the children were sleeping, when i have more time on my hands.

You will need:
5 green apples(it turned out to be too sour for my liking,so if i do it again,i will buy fuji red apples instead)
1-2 cinnamon sticks
70g brown or white sugar
70g dairy-free margarine
100g gluten-free flour mix

Procedure:
1) Skin, core, and dice the apples and place in a saucepan over low heat with the cinnamon sticks.Cook with the lid on for 15 min,and stir occasionally to prevent sticking. The apples should cook to a thick, chunky consistency.

2)Meanwhile,rub the margarine and the gluten free flour mix until it resembles breadcrumbs. The more you rub,the more moist and granular it becomes,so do this until it reaches a texture you like.(i failed here,i did not achieve the texture mentioned, mine was just smooth and flat instead of looking 'crumbly' but the end result was nice as well)

3) Mix in sugar(The mag did not say to the flour or to the apples,so stupid me did both, lol)

4)Pour chunky apple puree into a baking dish, smooth over with the back of spoon.

5)Spoon the 'breadcrumbs' topping over the apple puree and bake it in a pre-heated oven at 180 deg c for 30 minutes, till the top is golden brown.

tada!
Hub will pack this remaining apple crumble and Big Bird to work.:)

hi mommy tyan,
sorry i haven't been visiting your pblog and pblogs in general lately and i've missed quit a bit
tks so much for dropping by mine now-and-then and leaving your comments - appreciate that :)
looks like you had a great trip to the beach with your family - tt's cool!
well we can't help what other people think of us but we can certainly choose what we think after theri thoughts - so no big deal if that taximan or whoever else may think about who uses sarong to carry babies these days...as well as who thinks it's a waste to be a ful-time mother and home-maker...so long as you know why you do it that's good enough
like i've heard it said before - you can't prevent a bird flying over your head but you can certainly make sure it doesn't land and make a nest on your head :)
anyway - looks like yummy apple crumple...bet it tastes just as good as it looks!
cheers!

land of your roots - that's most wonderful!
maybe i should visit China some day... and hmm...Russia and China are nieghbours right? :)

@kairospix: thanks kairos! Thanks also for your very kind encouragement.YOu are right.i shouldnt be too bothered by what others say/think.My sister also told me once that the Wright brothers wanted to invent sth that man could fly in but everybody thought they were living 5 foot above ground, totally unrealistic. But see what the Wright brothers manage to do:)

Take care!

Oh yes, pls do me a favour. Visit http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/PredictSex.htm and see if this internet resource accurately tells the gender of yr boys. I tried for mine and it works. U need to input your birth date and date of conception (all western dates), the calculator will automatically convert to lunar months and calculate based on the ancient chinese lunar calendar. Let me know the results ya :)

I love the photographs you've posted over the last few days, sorry I've not been able to comment on them individually.
I was a stay at home mummy, and it was a really wonderful time, caring for my two boys, they tell me often, how greatful they are that I was at home with them, which is lovely :) It's something I'll never regret.
