Life begins after 10

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 5 August 2007 in Food & Cuisine.

You must be thinking i am running out of ideas on what to blog about.lol.

It is 2am on Sunday morning.Life starts after 10pm when both the kids finally enter Slumberland and we can finally have time to ourselves--talk,pray,blog,hub marks his scripts, housechores, examine new recipes, and yeah, cook stock for Caleb's meals for the following week.

I added tomatoes, carrots, corn, pork and chicken bones, bring to boil, and took a picture of it while enjoying the cool night breeze from the window just beside me.

My mind is full with what my new-found friend/p-blogger/fellow SAHM,Rebecca shared about organic food and stuff for our family.Shared it with hub and he gave this 'dirty' look and said,'It's more expensive you know.'

Oh well,Rebecca, looks like we have a long way to go eh?:)

I'm up at 3am too tyan - seems to be my most awake and productive time! I'm painting and waiting for a cake in the oven, Sam and Emma (his lovely girl -see tomorrow's picture) are cooking for my husband's birthday - it's an orange cake - you boil the oranges (not peeled) for 2 hours!! Must be a fine cake I think!!

@Bron: Bron, please share the cake and the recipe on your blog babe!:)

you sure are right, tyan! the road is long ahead, but hopefully there'll be help and encouragement along the way. :)

i think food is an ample and noble subject for blogging when done at the quality that you do, tyan...so, no way are you running out of ideas ! :)

thanks for sharing your photo. this looks to me like downright scrumptious stock. i like to get the mainstay of our meals done on the weekend too. usually in our household it's one main soup (chicken or pork, our "version" of stock :) , quite a lot of roast/baked meat (chicken, pork, fish (yes, i do love roasting! such a time-saver, & time is always something we're running out of :) ) ), some simple steamed fish/chicken, pasta & meat sauce, and fish porridge for elise, that gets done all at one go (usually takes about 3-4 hours) on saturday or sunday evening, then frozen in portions to be eaten the rest of the week! it's the only way we found we could cope, with jeff's work schedule being the way it is (and elise being the handful that she is :) ), and still eat healthy organic homecooked meals. during weekdays, we just have time for a quick stir-fry of veges and simple boiled rice, to add to the defrosted dish/meat portion for the day...and that's how we get through each week! :-) (we do eat out about once a week, but that's a subject for another day's blog, eh? *-) )

@Rebecca: yup Rebecca, will need to get some more organic education from you to try to convert hub to 'organicism',lol.you sound very organised!you r right, its hard to cook overlycomplicated dishes when we have no help ya:p

ps : forgot to say...we like to do some beef steaks on the weekends too :) i like to do mine with black pepper & shaohsing wine :-)
...well, you see how 'boring' we are :) ....for us, more complicated dishes tend to wait for red letter days when we have more help at home *-)

Oh yes, you reminded me of prayer life which I am badly lacking at the moment with my hb. I would knock off while laying in bed to wait for him. Arghhh...wonder how to get my body to wake up a bit longer.

Good to store stock and stuff. For me, haven't been doing that coz MIL doesn't like it. She says bb shld eat fresh food. Ok loh....
