Caleb and sponge paintingPosted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 9 September 2007 in People & Portrait. Been raining most part of the day recently so we havent been able to go out much. This was taken abt one and a half week ago.It was raining outside for the whole morning,Ian slept for a longer time and Caleb and I could actually do quite a number of things together. We ate our chocolate cake, did a few simple jigsaw puzzles, read stories about this ladybird series of jungle animals(Swinging Sally-gorilla,Muddy Molly-Hippo,Roaring Rory-lion,and i have yet to collect these 3 others:Hissing Hattie-snake,Huge henry-elephant and Stripey Sam-tiger) and we did sponge painting! Bought from the bookstore 3 patterned sponges and laid the papers and Caleb had a fun time rolling the paint rollers on the newspapers. And needless to say, after a while,he started rollin the paint on the floor,my arm and legs...I kept psychoing myself-fun 1st,cleaning up 2nd,fun 1st,cleaning up 2nd...lol

No outsourcing to a maid!! Kudos to you!! 9 Sep 2007 11:55pm Joanie from SingaporeHey I did some sponge painting with my gal using fingerpaint just on Saturday but she didn't like the paint. After she got some paint on her hand, she didn't want to touch the sponges anymore. Arghhh...The books you have sound interesting. Where did you get them? 10 Sep 2007 12:32am @Joanie: from Borders, ladybird series.maybe keziah is afraid to get dirty..caleb recently developed a dislike for sand too:) Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesLOL. Wonderful image and story behind it. Sponge painting and keeping perspective with where the painting/cleanup happens and how, has to be one of those great opportunities in patience and trust that the Lord sets before all parents of young children who are learning to interact with their enviroment in creative ways. Blessings to you, and thank you tyan for the many nice comments you have left at my site over the weekend; I've been away from the computer and am trying to do some catch up tonight. 10 Sep 2007 1:17am @Viewfinder: thanks VF for coming by and your very wise and kind words indeed! Thanks for coming though you are so busy, blessings to you too! rainsocks from Singaporebtw any suggestions what to do with a coming to 6 mth old baby??? 10 Sep 2007 3:28am @rainsocks: haha,to be v honest,i dont think i did much with Caleb when he was 6 months old cos i was a working mom then, but i have a slight impression i tried to flash cards as all the other moms in my workplace are doing.later found i was too harsh on his very young mind. Now that i have to cope with 2,i can hardly 'do' anything with my 2nd one,who is 8 months old,in fact i wish he is sleeping most of the time so that i can do other things! But i read from books you can talk and sing to the baby. Talk includes doing a commentary of all that you are doing, like,'Mommy is going to take off your clothes and bathe you...now stretch your left hand, etc',you can also ask him rhetorical questions, like,'isnt it a beautiful day today?',or you can invest in some baby cds,and play it when he is awake.abt 6 months,i also start propping Ian up to let him sit up,i also dangle things in front of him to grab, and put green beans in plastic medicine bottles to let him shake... |
