MAF Series: Caleb makes a lantern

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 18 September 2007 in People & Portrait.

If i am not wrong,Mid Autumn Festival falls on the 25th this month. To find out more about the origins(many versions of it btw) of MAF,Wikipedia has a very comprehensive write up on it.:) MAF is also known as Lantern Festival. Two of the big things about MAF are the lantern and mooncakes.

So we used the box used to contain our Italian delicacy posted last week to make a lantern for Caleb's artwork.I cut the shapes of a star and a moon on each sides of the flab and he was busy doing shape sorting in this picture.

We learnt more things than i expected. As we were pasting coloured paper and sticking star stickers,i could teach him colours, and as i cut out the different shapes on the box,i could teach him shapes. Was quite fun, except of course i did most of the work.lol

Is this a young engineer or inventor in the making? A very focused Caleb this morning, curious as to how things fit together. Wonderful portrait, mom!

Wow, tyan, I love the diligence and concentration you’ve captured in Caleb’s whole expression and positioning here. Such an imaginative and capable boy Caleb is growing up to be. And such a resourceful and innovative mummy you are, dear babe!!

Thank you also for your sharing at my blog on the very sad news of your friend/acquaintance’s death. I have left a reply for you there. Feel free to stop over and read it when it’s a good time for you. Blessings to you and yours, dear babe.
