Enter by the Rainbow gate

I have been quite busy as hub is away on reservist,so i was left to search for a kindergarten for Caleb and i also have been taking on more tuition assignments.

I only had time to call up some kindergartens about last month, minus the dodgy ones near our neighbourhood and many were already full, including the one that i wished we could get,as it is just BESIDE our place. I was on waiting list and the lady never got back to me so i registered him iin one about a few busstops away from our place. It has this colourful rainbow gate, the environment almost rustic and quite serene. It also has quite a comprehensive curriculum and not that i had many choices to afford to be fussy,so i decided on this one.

Today we just went for the Orientation, bought Caleb his uniform and went to his classroom. Caleb's class is going to be called Faith, incidentally,Caleb's name means faith.

I tried to get him to interact with a few little friends and he was so shy he kept using the brochure to hide his face. I just hope he will settle in well and get to have fun with his friends. It occurred to me his class was dominated by boys and for some reason i am not very pleased because i was worried he might become even more boisterous, you know,boys...oh well,i'll just keep my fingers crossed and hopefully Caleb will enjoy himself, for 3 hours everyday next year.

I am suffering from some kind of separation anxiety. I have become so accustomed to having both caleb and ian around in the house that i really cant bear to see Caleb go school now.I think i will miss the little guy.Hub kept telling me its just 3 hours,it will pass very quickly.I just hope he picks up more good things than bad.Poor kid,he is stepping into society at such a tender age.

I also had some slight 'regret' because i thought i was so late in registering him,i forgot to consider the 2 childcare centres just opposite our place, which provide kindergarten classes too. I thought if Caleb goes there, next time it may be easier for me to arrange childcare for them at the same place if i do return to work, rather than keep changing schools for him. Oh well, let's just see,hub said that kids are pretty adaptable,we'll go for 'Rainbow' kindergarten for a year and decide from there.

@Patricia Nichol: hi babe, yes i am chinese, singaporean chinese to be exact.Caleb is also chinese with a jewish name.haha.Husband came up with this name and we went thru quite a lot of 'tribulation' to get his name fixed as caleb..haha

Were you with Caleb in the class? It's a playground since it's for 3 hrs everyday. I still waiting for the one near my place...refuse to enrol Robyn in other nearby 'school's. Didn't want to waste $ and also to avoid getting her to change and to adapt to a new environment all the time.

@Nancy: ya i was with him, quite worried he will cry a lot when school starts.the first week, one adult is allowed to accompany the kids, and the first week is only one and a half hours each day, plus first day starts only on wed,so 3 days,i can be with him throughout the lesson.so does rob miss her previous childcare centre?i dont know why it just slipped my mind to consider the 2 opp my house, prob too distracted and busy to think too much, haha.I am thinking of putting Caleb in cambridge or another private one just opposite our flat next year, now that i already put him in this current school, will just stick with it for a year..lawrence says should be ok,they are quite adaptable, hopefully!

now i learn my lesson,i will call ONE YEAR in advance..haha.Cant beat all the kiasu parents out there man.

so what are the hours like for rob and marcus,if they do attend?meanwhile where does rob go?what you doing now?got new job waiting or lobo a bit first?

I like these rainbow colours. They are wonderfully cheering, dear babe! To me this is a really lovely composition. And I’m so excited for you at this next phase starting so soon for you, with Caleb going to kindergarten next year! I think Law is right; Caleb will be fine even if you have to change kindergartens later. At this age, kids really are very adaptable, as long as the really important carers in their lives are still there consistently, I feel. Personally I think it’s only when they get to pre-teen or teenage years that they really mind about changing schools and ‘disrupting’ their peer friendships (oh dear, something else for us to worry about for the future : teenage years, possibly worse than toddler years?! ;) ….one step at a time, as I try to tell myself! :o) ) .

Yeah - hub is right kids adapt pretty easy. I think he will be fine and soon playing with everyone. If he gets to boyish then you can tone him down under your care. I think your children will be lovely, kind and considerate.

Great capture, tyan! Don't worry about Caleb, it takes a bit of time for him to adept to new environments, later on you will have trouble to get him out there! :-)
