Caleb's first day: Snack Time!Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 5 January 2008 in People & Portrait. Caleb washes his hands at the mini tap area before snack. I was telling you that parents are allowed to take pictures on the first day. Ok,so there was this mom,who has not stopped taking pictures and videos of her son ever since she stepped into the school compound. That's fine by me,until snack time, when i was trying to take just about 3 steps away from Caleb,he looked around, spotted me,and got up from his seat to come towards me. This mom then closed in on where Caleb was sitting, and clicked away, saying in a high pitch voice,"Remus, show mummy how you eat biscuits!","Remus, show mummy how you drink the water","Remus, show mummy how you lift up the cup".... Gosh. And it was as if only her son existed in the whole world, while she happily stood over Caleb's chair, such that my boy couldnt return to his seat. That got me on my nerves a bit. Time passed quickly and i was on my way out with Caleb. He enjoyed the singing and the playground time the most. I started feeling very depressed, wondering how he was going to cope next week when i cant go into the classroom with him. I am worried he will be traumatised. According to the principal, it is perfectly normal and she assured that the children will adjust and start to enjoy school. I began to worry how he was going to make his way to the hall and know which queue to join, which class to go,since there are only 2 teachers to a class of 16.Will he get lost while making his way from one place to another? The more i thought about it, the more depressed i became. I started tearing and dear Caleb said,"Mummy,bu yao ku",(means mummy, don't cry in chinese). Then i tried to explain to him i wouldnt be with him in class next week but he would have fun with friends and teachers and singing songs and he quipped enthusiastically,'Okay!' Let's hope it will really be ok. Please pray that i wont cry next week when he cries. I think that will make things worse.

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canadaahhh Tyan, have no worries, there will come a time, when he won't want to leave the school or his friends and will not want to go with you when you're ready to pick him up. I promise :) 5 Jan 2008 10:40am Shrig from New Jersey, United StatesYou will be just fine, Tyan :) and so will Caleb. Keep your chin up. 5 Jan 2008 8:46pm |
