'Bye Bye Depot'

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 1 March 2008 in People & Portrait.

For some strange reason,Caleb calls the train 'Depot' now, even though i have corrected him on quite a number of occasions. There is a train depot near my mom's place,so maybe he somehow got mixed up.Caleb is now very fascinated with trains and aeroplanes and could play with his gift train set quietly for a long time.On days when i have to bring the kids with me while i teach at my mom's,Caleb insists on going up an overhead bridge to watch the train go by.He would stand there quietly, with anticipation, and shouts with delight when he sees a train pass. Then when the train leaves,he waves, and say,'Bye Bye Depot.'

Its amazing how simple things like that can fascinate a child his age.And as a child grows,he becomes more difficult to please.I am relishing every moment of 'simple pleasures' in life now.

It's lovely and a little wistful. The rotation has added extra interest.

Excellent photo Tyan, he's a treasure, and to this day I am still fascinated by trains and their mournful cry...your child has a poetic soul ;)

Caleb's such a gem! And I love how innocent kids are and how they are able to appreciate the smallest things in life and when they say the darnest things, it's just so adorable.

What concentration shows on his face, Tyan ......... a precious little boy.
You're wise to enjoy every moment; too many try to rush their children's growing years!

So true; little boys (and little girls) are very fascinated by things that later we sort of push away from consciousness. Like trains and planes for Caleb.

Wonderful capture of Caleb’s expression here and a beautiful perspective, dear tyan. Really appreciate what you said too. I think Christ was right when He observed that in some ways we need to be like little children again if we are to be able to embrace God’s kingdom. I love this post.
