Holiday fun: Zoo...Again

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 15 March 2008 in Animal & Insect.

You might not believe it but we went to the zoo for a second time this week. I bought this big book of animals for Caleb and he could name almost all of the mammals in the book, and he woke up yesterday morning bugging us to bring him to the zoo. So we thought we could do the 'experiential learning' thingy which MOE always make teachers do,just check out the cheesey advertisements for recruitment of teachers,LOL.

We called the weather forecast and was pleasantly surprised to know that there wasnt going to be any rain,at least in the morning and afternoon, which was a miracle because this week has been raining dinosaurs and elephants for most part of the days.

We went later because Hub had to settle some stuff at work and it was quite a last minute decision to go to the zoo.But we had fun,and it was a much more fruitful trip compared to Tuesday's one because the weather was good.

We took a family shot at the entrance with the parrots, which Caleb calls 'Pawwots',he still pronounces 'R' as 'W',like rice as wice, carrot as cawwot, pirates as piwate, parrots as pawwot...We saw the wolf, guanco(relative of the llama),the orang utans(there was this suspension bridge which we could take to be 'up close and personal' with them);Caleb now poses for my shots, mustering this 'fake' smile everytime i tell him to,how obliging!

We were in time to see the rhinos feed, the zebras, the ostrich, meerkats, giraffes, the lion and his harem of four lioness, jaguar, cheetah(the difference between the 2 is that jaguar has rings with black spots inside and cheetah doesnt);snakes,an iguana on the loose at the reptile garden(it was like in freeze motion when we approached it),this little monkey with white hair sticking out from its sides or ears(!!),penguins, seals, mandrill, deers and Ian posing with the Ben & Jerry's mascot at the zoo entrance.

Ha-ha! That little fake smile on Caleb is so funny. He is such a great little boy! These are all wonderful shots and memories. Bravo to you parents for taking them back to the zoo; am glad the animals were more cooperative.

This is a wonderful grouping - collage/montage, giving us all a feel for the fun you & 'hub' had with the boys. I loved reading about your day, Tyan and I'm sure Caleb will remember this for along time!

PS: Our shrimp, scallops & broccoli dish was DELICIOUS!!! Leftovers will be tonight. :D

I'd love to visit the zoo too! Did Ian appreciate the visit to the zoo too? I am just not too sure when to bring Jamie there, whether he'd enjoy it etc. Lovely pictures! Love the family portrait too!

You all seem to have had a lot of fun. I remember that i had problem with my speech when i was a kid. I used to call my brother "tee-tee" instead of Stephen.
