Mother's Day bouquet

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 17 May 2008 in Plant & Nature.

A lovely bouquet some of my ex-students,Yunhann,Kassandra and Cheryl gave to me a few days back for Mother's Day i presumed. They are the same sweeties who surprised me with a lovely Mother's Day poem 2 years ago. They came over for some last minute hug-buddha-leg revision for their O level Chinese paper which is coming up next week. I was their form teacher when they were Secondary One and now they are already in Secondary Four.

Honestly i enjoyed having close relationships with my students, though it is hard for them to remember me for the rest of their lives,i am contented enough they still regard me as their teacher even though i no longer teach them. There are still days i miss my profession badly, but i guess there is a season for everything. Ok,if i ever have a daughter,I am going to call her Season.HAHA.

Caleb didnt have to go to school yesterday because of the Sentosa excursion the day before and i had the intention to bring him to Paragon to check out the Lego sets after Spots recommended me to go there. But Caleb had been having a runny nose for almost a week, and after a mummy told me about how persistent runny nose can lead to bronchitis,i decided that i should bring him to a PD yesterday instead.Caleb had bronchitis once and it was so traumatizing for him to put on the nebulizer.I remember how he was crying and banging his head backwards onto my pregnant tummy then. Was a traumatic experience for us both. Now everytime the boys cough,i have shivers down my spine.

Anyway,i think it is better i bring Hub along to choose the Lego since he probably knows more about Lego than me,so i decided to change our Paragon plans to visit the doc and order a cake for Caleb's birthday celebration in class next week instead.

Caleb was complaining of pain in his mouth 2 days back but i couldnt find anything unusual.Yesterday morning,he complained of pain again.I told the doc but she couldnt find anything in his mouth either.Later in the day,Caleb told me about the pain again.I looked.Gosh,2 ulcers! The first thought was,'Oh no,HFMD!Where did he get it from?!'

I rushed him and Ian to the doc again, the 2nd time in a day, sigh, somebody have mercy on my worn out body!Had to keep the boys outside the clinic, then to my horror,he actually has 3 ulcers, and a little bruise on his upper lip.Poor boy.But good news is,its not HFMD.Caleb fell down and bit his lip some days back and these are probably abrasions, according to the doc.

PHEW.

A HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF.

But for now,my paranoid antennae is up again.I am going to grab that 3 bots dettol offer-pack from NTUC and sanitise my house and clothes and everything.Maybe they should come up with dettol spray to sanitise the air as well.

Oops, realised I have been going non stop about some of the trivial stuff of our little lives here.LOL.Its like that lah, after mummy stays at home for too long with 2 kiddos and nobody to talk to most of the time, she sort of starts rambling into space or cyberspace here for the matter. For sanity's sake, let me indulge, haha.

Aawww babe, you are really going through a lot. I think its normal for us to be paranoid about our kids falling ill. I have actually had 4 hospitalization episodes for 3 kids. None were spared although the first 2 times were within a week and the rest, a couple of months apart. The experiences were traumatizing to say the least. Then again, each episode gives you more strength.....it is strange but true. Because we learn it best when we have gone through it.

Cheer up dear, all this stuff will pass. All this will pass.....

Phew! It's really wonderful to know that Caleb is fine. :)
I'm sure the girls will remember you for the rest of their lives...as much as your boys will.
Happy Mother's Day (once again) and Happy Teachers' Day (way in advance)! :D

Lovely bouquet you received and trust me, students do remember teachers all their lives when they live an important impact, and apparently you are in that path :)

I love to read your narratives of the ups and downs of everyday life . . while enjoying the bouquet, of course!

Wow, a lot of stuff to process. But wonderful to have former students coming to express their love for you (and your continuing services as a reader of their work). Hope both Caleb and Ian are doing well and stay that way. Hang in, mommie.
