Garden and Creepy Crawlies Week: Stink bugPosted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 9 July 2008 in Animal & Insect. Before you go on to comment what a brilliant shot this is,please take note: Compliments from Wikipedia:) We didnt manage to get interesting creepy crawlie at the Botanical Gardens for Caleb's show-and-tell session. Turned out we could get a 'google' worth of bugs and such from my mom's front yard. My mom caught this and i googled from wikipedia-it is known as the stink/shield bug. Shield because its wings look like shields and the various species have really very beautifully patterned shields. Stink because when preying or carelessly handled, it releases a foul smelling liquid. Impressive show-and-tell for a 3-year-old eh?

MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomA few years back, we noticed lots of these bugs in our garden, I was wondering what it was called. Now thanks to you and wiki I know, and I will be leaving it well alone, I don't want to find out how foul the stink is :) 9 Jul 2008 9:40am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaWell isn't that fantastic, it certainly has the camouflage it needs :) Thanks to you and Wikipedia, I will never touch it lol 9 Jul 2008 11:25am Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South AfricaWell it's awesome all the same!! hahahah - great show and tell for mom and Caleb!! :) 9 Jul 2008 4:49pm Ras from Plano, United StatesWell done mom.
