J's BrowniePosted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 14 July 2008 in Food & Cuisine. What does this look to you? Btw,the white stuff is sugar icing, not mould! J gave this to me this morning when we met at the kindergarten. She has taken up some work and we didnt arrange to meet, so i guess she had given the brownie that she probably meant for herself or colleagues at work. As i received the brownie, i felt a surge of warmth--that there are such nice people who do nice things for me! J is really good at baking and she has baked cookies for me on numerous occasions. There is another mom,YX, who after i once made a passing remark that the boys were growing out of their clothes rapidly, she started passing me lots of clothes that her children could not wear anymore. And the clothes were branded! Most of the clothes the boys are wearing now are hand-me-downs from YX. And every now and then, she will pass me shoes, caps that are still in good condition that her kids has outgrown. And she always has cereals, sweets in her bag that she dishes out if my boys are fidgety at the kindy. Sadly, she is going to switch her child to a childcare centre soon, which means i have one less mom to talk to from then on. My husband speculated that J and YX are so nice to me because I am much younger and they treat me like a younger sis. Most of the moms of Caleb's classmates are already in their late 30s and 40s! And i can still sing Jamie Cullum's '20-something' song for a while more! I fondly remember the cleaning lady at my workplace who regularly brewed chestnut drink and stuff that pregnant women eat for me when I was pregnant with Ian.It feels so good to be mothered around sometimes!LOL Anyhow,I have been thanking God that there are little surprises like these on a road that is sometimes very hard to travel, and the traveller is very weary. Count my blessings one by one, angels without wings like J and YX to lift up our souls every now and then.

Your brownie photo is a tribute to your special J angel, and to God's love for providing the means for the two of you to meet -- if only for a while. 15 Jul 2008 3:03am |
