First Day of SchoolPosted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 2 January 2009 in People & Portrait. Happy New Year friends! It is the first day of school here in Singapore and Caleb starts his nursery in a new school this year. We all have quite a lot to adjust to in terms of the timing, the new environment and new teachers and classmates. One parent/caregiver is allowed in the classroom for the first few days but we were asked to leave if the children were coping alright. So this time round,I didnt have the chance to get to know all his friends' names except this young lady,Nadine, who also smiled at my camera(though I didnt tell her to) when i asked Caleb to smile. I really liked the fact that I knew all his friends last year, because knowing more gave us more things in common to talk about. It suddenly dawned upon me that Caleb is growing up very quickly and soon enough,he may become that grouchy teenager who wouldnt want his mom to have anything to do with him. I must treasure these moments now!

Nancy from SingaporeCaleb is such a fast worker...already got to hold a girl's hand on the first day of school. hahahha. 2 Jan 2009 5:01pm Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesHe's definitely got the right idea - charm the girls and all will be well. Watch out in those teen years if the trend continues. Hahahaha! But you have a little time before all that starts - to enjoy his growing up years. 2 Jan 2009 5:39pm Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesWhat a cute, albeit somewhat forced smile, Caleb. Nadine may end up being your special friend this year. 2 Jan 2009 10:09pm Tricia from Melbourne, Australiaawww Nadine looks so sweet..haha yes! must treasure the moments when he's still young! i miss those young carefree days too, where school = play. 3 Jan 2009 2:27am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaAh you are getting wise, good girl , and isn't this the loveliest portrait, well done Tyan ;) 3 Jan 2009 11:45am Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomExciting times . . but you are right, each of those thresholds of life will be crossed so, so fast . . . and each will be just as exciting ! 3 Jan 2009 4:28pm Nancy from SingaporeThe kids love the gifts. Robyn has been fixing the puzzles and even refused to let Marcus touch them. Marcus was upset when he thought we kept the book. I was also surprised to receive the parcel. :) Thanks! 4 Jan 2009 7:54am EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomI remember those days so well. The feeling of lonliness when mum walked away and left me alone with the teacher and a classroom full of strangers. Scary and then suddenlt fun and completely natural. A delightful image 4 Jan 2009 7:56am |
