Butterfly Lodge @ Oh Chin Huat

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 5 June 2009 in People & Portrait.

I have been teaching Caleb life cycles of various animals and insects using puzzles and storybooks but nothing beats seeing the real thing. So when i saw from my friend,Nancy's blog how she brought her kids to the Butterfly Lodge, we decided to bring the boys there today.(And Nancy,we've been there before, bringing our students for field trip, remember? We were both pregnant with our first and you offered me bread, haha, will never forget that:))

The lodge was not as big nor the butterfly species as varied as i saw on their website but it was good enough to show them how the butterfly grew from egg to caterpillar to cocoon then to a beautiful butterfly! More coming up next few days.:)

@Leena: thank you,for giving me affirmation, from the right person!!:) i never studied biology,so it takes more effort to teach what I don't know!:)

Nancy from Singapore

Did I? I dun remember about the bread thingy. hahahha :p

Did the boys have fun at the Butterfly Lodge? Did YOU have fun too? :)
I'm sure the boys will be very excited when the caterpillar morphs into a beautiful butterfly. Robyn and Marcus were so excited when we released the butterflies. Think the experience will stay with them. I'll send some files related to butterflies to you via email. You might want to use them as post activity.

@Nancy: heh,ya you even told me you just warmed up the bread so should be safe to eat, haha. They had fun but Ian still doesnt fully appreciate i think. We didnt buy the butterflies, cos i was very afraid it will die in my care.So we just appreciated the butterflies at the lodge..:)

Caleb may be the next St. Francis. Look at that absolutely peaceful, gentle expression. I think he is a naturalist in the making.
