Butterfly Lodge: Chrysalis

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 7 June 2009 in Animal & Insect.

I feel a lot for this word because I used to be in charge of publication in the school where I worked and every year we published a compilation of students' literary works and it was called 'Chrysalis'.It was a lot of work,so i guess it was so named.

Butterflies

By: Karen Shapiro

See the butterfly up in the sky.

Watch it as it flutters by!

Butterflies start as tiny eggs.

Out come caterpillars with many legs.

Little caterpillars growing long,

crawling,

feeding,

getting strong.

They love to nibble and to chew.

They eat small leaves

and big ones, too.

The poem just sorta stopped short above so i decided to fill in the ending of the chrysalis process on my own. I know it sounds crude but give me some applause for trying!LOL:)

Then one day they made cocoons

Which stays still like a long balloon

Two weeks later you'll wait and see

Out comes a beauty no longer a pea

Lovely patterns on rainbow wings

Ready for life's great swing!

(Credits to Husband for grammatical correction, literary aesthetics and the last line:))

Now I'll just have to think of a tune to the poem and the boys can sing it with me!:)

Oh sweety you don't need BRAVOs for trying, you are truly gifted...why can't you see that! this poem isn't only for children, adults would enjoy too, your photo is fantastic, and I'm in awe...

wow! you managed to catch the butterfly emerging from the cocoon?

You two are so gifted. Seriously give it a thought of publishing a book on poems. :)
