Day of Reckoning

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 5 July 2009 in Miscellaneous.

So I have been taking driving lessons for half a year now, and tomorrow is my driving test. I badly want to pass because Husband will be very busy this second part of the year and it will be very difficult if I have to retake my exam. It has also been an extra commitment on my already full plate which I cannot wait to get rid of.

My instructor told me some horror stories of how his ex-student greeted the examiner 'Good Morning' and the examiner retorted back,'What's so good about the morning?'

My secondary school friend told me she passed at her fourth attempt and another mutual friend passed at her fifth. Though they took auto while i am doing manual,I completely freaked out that they had to retake so many times. I just don't have that luxury of time and help with kids to retake and retake and retake...

And all sorts of funny things happen the week just before i take my test. I strike or mount kerbs which had never happened before; I had a dry run last Thursday,my instructor made me drive at the horribly congested road at Eunos, where I have to change 4 lanes within a short distance to make a U-turn. Nobody was kind enough to give way, which is so typical of Singaporean drivers, and just when i thought it was clear to switch lanes, there was this pesky motorcyclist who zoomed past me at high speed, though my signal was on, i nearly swerved and it could have resulted in an accident. That incident made me quite certain I wasnt going to make it tomorrow.

But i really want to pass this time.

Take a deep breath.

Take it easy.

I'll just try my best and pray for the best.

I'll let you know tomorrow if I make it. Or maybe i wont if i fail.

Drivers, please show mercy when you see a car with double L plates in the late morning tomorrow. Please don't accelerate when you see it try to change lanes, please don't honk, please don't flash high beam, and please don't sneak up from its blind spots. You make all the difference between a failure and a pass!

The one thing experienced drivers forget it's what it's like when you first start out...So remember this when you've been driving 20 years, be considerate of new drivers and old ones too.
YOU'LL pass, and if you don't you'll get another chance, have no fear...but I Have a feeling you'll pass x
Before you get in the car, just think, God be with me...and you'll shine !

oh and very appropriate photo...ps take a photo of the driving examiner before you leave, you know for the experience, just tell him you want to remember this moment (if the photo looks good, he'll be kinder towards you) lol ;) and even if it doesn't look good, he knows he'll probably appear on a blog somewhere and he'll want to be thought of as a kind examiner lOL hey use every trick in the book...
ps don't wear a short skirt, you'll distract him, and besides you don't need it, you're a natural beauty!!!

Lorraine has given good advice. But I'll add to that my own: "just be calm and let God guide the whole process, no matter what the outcome you'll be fine."
