爱的教育Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 22 July 2009 in People & Portrait. Yesterday, Caleb's class teachers came to our place for a home visit. I am so amazed at their passion in their ministry. 20 children per class, 40 in all from the morning and afternoon sessions. Caleb had been really excited about Mrs A Chua and 王老师 coming to our place and had been at it the whole day beofre they came, brought drinks out for them when they came and took out all his books and toys to share with them. They came and gave feedback about Caleb, Mrs Chua said he is very lively, spontaneous and has a good attention span, while 王老师said he listens to instruction in Chinese well, though he replies to her in English, haha. I mean, when i was teaching back then, i had visited students' parents in hospitals, attended funerals, write personal notes to all my students but i had never gone visiting their families one by one. I think Caleb's teachers have really gone far beyond their teaching obligation by paying us a home visit, and it really explains why i like his school so much. I mean it is not the most high-end, nor do they use state-of-the-art materials with the kids, their syllabus is simple, but I am not asking for more when you have teachers who care this much.

sinchy from SingaporeAmazing. This is really the right place for Caleb. What children need nowadays is not more academic information, but relational grounding. Bravo to the teachers! 22 Jul 2009 7:14am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaI've never heard of this happening before, how wonderful! The photo is fantastic sweety ;) 22 Jul 2009 11:12am Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United StatesWhat more could you ask than to have teachers who care about your precious child! 22 Jul 2009 11:15am Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United StatesThis is great. My wife, who is an educator, long ago told me "Some teachers are teachers of their subject, some are teachers of children." I would much prefer those who are teachers of children - I think you've found a school where this is the norm. The better for Caleb, as his big, happy smile shows. 22 Jul 2009 12:26pm |
