Peacock Dance

Posted by tyan (Singapore, Singapore) on 21 June 2012 in Animal & Insect.

There were quite a number of peacocks and peahens in the hotel animal corner. While we were strolling along after breakfast, we heard the Peacock calling out. Then excitement ensued. A peahen responded to the call, walked near the Peacock and the Peacock spread out its beautiful gown immediately, let out this rattiling sound and started strutting round and round the peahen before they mated. And I managed to catch it on video, what a memorable souvenir!

Excellent presentation - and good to see they are dressed in peacock colors, too !!

Nice shots! I'm sure Ian was eyeing the peacock closely to make sure it wasn't going to get too close for comfort! (I'm guessing based on the last pic of the boys) Lol

Ha, ha ... now the boys know how the peacocks 'do it' ... hope they don't ask Dad to strut his feathers for them! ;D
